Zuiderzee Museum
In 1932, the Afsluitdijk closed off the Zuiderzee from the Wadden Sea, and the new inland lake was named ‘IJsselmeer’. The area outside the dike has since been part of the Wadden Sea. The Zuiderzee Museum focuses on the history, present, and future of the IJsselmeer region.
The old harbor
Enkhuizen is a port city with a rich history. This Dutch East India Company town has many harbors, making it one of the most beautiful small cities on the former Zuiderzee (now IJsselmeer). With its numerous terraces and restaurants in the harbors, this Herring City is a vibrant place.
The cozy shopping center
Stroll through the picturesque shopping streets of Enkhuizen while marveling at the historic buildings. You can easily drop off your full shopping bags at the hotel, as we’re just 100 meters from the shopping street. For a break on a terrace, you won’t have to look far.
